Guvernul României a plătit pentru drepturile salariale ale magistraților câștigate prin hotărâri judecătorești de 22 de ori mai mult decât pentru toate celelalte categorii de bugetari, la un loc
In recent years, over 402,000 public employees in Romania have sued the state for salary rights, with 159,119 winning their cases. The Supreme Court's recent ruling mandates the government to pay magistrates €1 billion in overdue salaries within ten days, or face penalties. The analysis reveals that magistrates are not the only public employees pursuing legal action for salary disputes, with teachers and police also prominent in the statistics. The European Court of Human Rights highlighted the complexity of estimating the financial impact of these claims on public finances. The total amount paid to magistrates from 2006 to 2026 is approximately €1.63 billion, significantly higher than payments to other public sectors. The ECHR dismissed the magistrates' complaints regarding their salary disputes, citing potential conflicts of interest.
