The Romanian government is developing solutions to ensure water supply for cooling the Cernavodă nuclear power plant due to record low levels of the Danube. An inter-ministerial committee is assessing various strategies to maintain water levels at the plant's intake. Dragging channels is a priority intervention to improve water distribution, although low water levels pose challenges for operations. Additionally, a short stone dam will be constructed to direct water towards deeper areas of the river. Mobile inflatable dams may also be installed to supplement cooling water needs, ensuring the plant's operations continue despite low river levels.
