The German government has approved a €10 billion tax reform package aimed at reducing the tax burden on low and middle-income households, particularly families with children. High earners will face increased income tax rates, with a new 47% rate for incomes over €280,000. The reforms will provide families with children an additional €600 annually starting in 2028. The child allowance will rise to €267 per month in 2027, and the tax-free income threshold will increase to €12,564. The legislation will be debated in parliament and is set to take effect in stages from January 2027.
