The government approved financial aid for potato farmers in 2026, providing up to 300 euros per hectare to support producers facing rising costs and import competition. A total budget of 26.625 million lei has been allocated for this program. Eligible farmers must cultivate at least 0.3 hectares and produce a minimum of 12 tons per hectare. Applications can be submitted electronically, and verification will occur before harvest. Payments will be made by December 22, 2026, with a cap of 50,000 euros for firms over three years. If demand exceeds the budget, the aid per hectare will be reduced for all applicants.
