The Romanian government has approved a €630 million loan from the European Investment Bank for the modernization of the Brașov–Sighișoara railway line. This 112.55 km section will allow trains to operate at speeds of up to 160 km/h, enhancing connectivity to major European corridors. The project is part of a broader funding program aimed at strategic infrastructure improvements, with a total estimated cost of €2.25 billion. Works began in 2020 and are expected to be completed by 2029, managed by the National Railway Company under the Ministry of Transport.
