The Romanian government will eliminate bridge tolls at several crossings to Bulgaria starting October 1, 2026, as part of a broader road tariff reform. This includes the Fetești-Cernavodă, Giurgeni-Vadu Oii, and Giurgiu-Ruse bridges. The changes aim to reduce costs and waiting times for drivers. However, the toll for the Ruse to Giurgiu direction will still be collected by Bulgarian authorities. The new system will also modify the road tax for vehicles based on pollution standards and distance traveled for heavy vehicles.
