Guvernul Bolojan a îndatorat România extern cu 3,4 miliarde de euro în primele șase luni. Deficitul de cont curent a depășit 14 miliarde de euro

Romania faces increasing external financing needs as its foreign debt rises and current account deficit widens. In the first half of 2026, foreign debt grew by 4.3 billion euros, reaching 232.8 billion euros, while the current account deficit hit 14.2 billion euros. The economy is consuming and investing more than it produces, necessitating external funding. Foreign direct investments plummeted to 669 million euros, down from 3.7 billion euros in the same period of 2025. The National Bank of Romania reports that the long-term external debt is primarily driven by the public sector, which increased significantly. Overall, the reliance on debt financing is growing, rather than attracting more capital investments.
