The Romanian government has extended the deadline for companies to update their CAEN codes until March 25, 2027, due to low compliance rates. This decision aims to prevent administrative procedures from hindering business operations. The interim Minister of Economy, Irineu Darău, emphasized the need for more time as only 37.24% of professionals had updated their activities by the previous deadline. The extension allows both CAEN Rev. 2 and Rev. 3 codes to be used simultaneously, facilitating a smoother transition. The request for an extension was supported by the confederation of small and medium enterprises, which highlighted potential risks for entrepreneurs due to the previous deadline.
