The Romanian government has approved a memorandum for negotiating a €630 million financing contract with the European Investment Bank for the modernization of the Brașov–Sighișoara railway segment. This funding is part of a larger framework allowing Romania to secure up to €4.975 billion for strategic projects under the Transport Program 2021–2027. The project aims to enhance the national railway infrastructure, improving safety and efficiency while reducing travel times. The total estimated cost of the project is approximately €2.25 billion, with completion expected by 2029.
