The Romanian government has approved offshore wind farm concession areas in the Black Sea, enabling competitive procedures for investors. The approved areas have an estimated capacity of 3.1 GW, aligning with Romania's energy strategy for 2025-2035. This initiative supports Romania's commitments under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and aims to enhance economic impact through investments and job creation. The framework for these projects is outlined in the PNRR, focusing on reducing coal dependency and promoting renewable energy. The Ministry of Energy will oversee the concession process.
