The Romanian government has approved the Biodiversity Conservation Strategy for 2026-2030, securing €1 billion from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for domestic investments. Interim Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu announced that the strategy aims to protect and restore ecosystems, reduce species extinction risks, and ensure sustainable resource use. It includes 11 national objectives and outlines responsible institutions, timelines, funding sources, and performance indicators for each measure. The strategy also focuses on restoring degraded ecosystems and monitoring progress to adapt measures as needed.
