Guvern: Datoria publică a României a depășit 60% din PIB. Măsuri prevăzute

Romania's public debt has surpassed 60% of GDP, triggering legal measures to control spending and reduce debt. The Finance Ministry reported that the debt reached 60.1% by the end of Q1 2023. As a result, the government must adhere to fiscal responsibility laws, limiting salary and social assistance expenditures. The EU's regulations require a downward trajectory for public debt and a budget deficit below 3% of GDP. Romania's medium-term budgetary plan aims to achieve these goals by 2031, with specific spending limits set for the coming years. Failure to comply with these measures could hinder government spending increases.
