Georgescu was released from custody after a judge denied a 30-day arrest request, placing him under judicial control instead. He is being investigated by DIICOT for forming an organized crime group and fraud. The case involves a scheme that allegedly defrauded a businessman of approximately 1.1 million euros. Prosecutors had sought preventive arrest based on intercepted conversations and evidence gathered during searches of Georgescu's properties. He is also facing charges in two other criminal cases, including one related to promoting individuals convicted of war crimes. Georgescu maintains the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
