Sorin Grindeanu, the PSD leader, expressed strong opposition to the nomination of Luca Niculescu, emphasizing that the party cannot support a political framework solely based on austerity measures. He highlighted the need for discussions with Niculescu to understand his economic vision, stating that any support from PSD must be based on solid commitments. Grindeanu criticized the decision of President Nicușor Dan to nominate Niculescu instead of granting PSD a mandate, reflecting dissatisfaction among party leaders. He pointed out the negative impact of current policies on the Romanian economy and insisted that PSD would not endorse austerity measures reminiscent of Bolojan's approach. Grindeanu received unanimous support from his colleagues to engage with Niculescu and assess his compatibility with PSD's governance program.
