Grindeanu asks Bolojan to negotiate a delay in the closure of coal-fired power plants

PSD President Sorin Grindeanu urged Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to negotiate a delay for closing coal-fired power plants in Brussels. He emphasized that Romania should not shut down energy capacity without alternatives, warning of severe economic consequences. Grindeanu plans to introduce a bill in Parliament to ensure that no capacity is closed until replacements are operational, highlighting the potential to add 700 MW to the energy system. He criticized the idea of relying on energy imports and called for reopening idled facilities, particularly in regions like Jiu Valley, Gorj, and Hunedoara.
