A pensioner in Bucharest lost his life savings of 5,500 euros after leaving his door unlocked, allowing a thief to enter and steal the money. The 77-year-old regularly welcomed homeless individuals into his home. The theft occurred earlier this month when the pensioner stepped out, and a 42-year-old man took advantage of the situation. Two off-duty police officers recognized the suspect from a circulated photo and apprehended him. He is now in custody for 30 days while the investigation continues, but the stolen money has not yet been recovered.
