Giorgia Meloni aprobă arestarea preventivă a minorilor de la 14 ani, după protestele violente: „Părinții vor plăti pentru pagube”

The Italian government has tightened security measures following riots in Milan, introducing new sanctions for minors. A decree allows for criminal liability for youths aged 14 to 18 and empowers police chiefs to ban violent offenders from public gatherings. New laws classify violent participation in protests as a crime, punishable by up to five years in prison and fines of up to €20,000. An additional 500 soldiers will be deployed in Milan until the end of the year to assist police. Prime Minister Meloni condemned the violence that injured nearly 200 officers and caused significant property damage. The decree also establishes that parents will be liable for damages caused by their minor children. Meloni emphasized that destruction and theft are criminal acts, not protests, and the state's response must be firm.
