Japanese giant Asahi, owner of Ursus Breweries, expands its Romanian operations by acquiring AGSIRA, a yeast producer. The acquisition, completed in August 2026, enhances Leiber's production capacity and strengthens its presence in Central and Eastern Europe. AGSIRA, founded in 2010, specializes in processing brewery yeast into animal feed and other products. The company has engaged in research and development, with its founder, Radian-Nicolae Negrilă, listed as an inventor on several patents. This acquisition aligns with Asahi's strategy to utilize brewery yeast as a valuable raw material, further integrating AGSIRA into a global network.
