TotalEnergies has completed the transfer of its 10% stake in the Arctic LNG 2 project to Novatek, ending its involvement in the sanctioned Russian export project. The company confirmed the transfer to NordLine, a Novatek subsidiary, and retains rights for reimbursement of approximately $1.3 billion related to shareholder loans. TotalEnergies had previously announced its exit from the project due to sanctions imposed by the UK, EU, and US. The company reported a total loss of $4.1 billion in 2022 for this investment. Novatek initiated discussions for the transfer, which was approved by Russian authorities in June.
