The Romanian government has approved a funding program for individuals who want to install batteries to store energy from their photovoltaic systems. The budget is set at 400 million lei, with applications expected to open in October 2026. Eligible applicants must already be prosumers with a connected photovoltaic system. Funding can cover up to 75% of the project cost, with a maximum of 15,000 lei. Key changes include a minimum battery capacity of 10 kWh and a new scoring system based on the applicant's contribution and battery capacity. Existing battery owners are not automatically disqualified, and specific documentation will be required for applications.
