Germany plans to extend border controls for an additional six months, until March 2027, due to ongoing illegal migration concerns. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has officially notified the European Commission about this decision. The controls, initially implemented in September 2024, have already been extended three times amid rising criticism. If the European Commission raises no objections, the new extension will be confirmed.
