The German army's future drone regiment is set to be fully operational by 2029, according to Army Chief Christian Freuding. The unit will consist of five or six companies with various capabilities, including close-range enemy combat and long-range systems. Freuding emphasized the importance of having a dedicated testing and evaluation company within the regiment. The initial operational capability is expected by 2027, with around 350 personnel, expanding to 600 later on. The regiment may be integrated into the current army structure or operate independently.
