The AfD received 37% of the votes, while the ruling Social Democrats (SPD) garnered 35.5%. The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) faced a significant decline, achieving only 5.5%, marking its worst regional election result since 1949. It remains uncertain if CDU will secure seats in the state parliament due to the 5% electoral threshold. In a separate election in Berlin, the left-wing party Die Linke leads with 26%, followed by CDU and the Greens.
