China has surpassed Germany to become Poland's largest source of imports for the first time in 35 years, driven by a significant increase in Chinese goods, particularly cars. In July 2026, imports from China rose by 28.8%, while those from Germany fell by 1.8%. The National Bank of Poland noted that this shift was influenced by a rise in imports of electronics and durable consumer goods. Despite this change, Germany remains the largest supplier over a 12-month period. In the first seven months of 2026, Poland imported €36.7 billion worth of goods from China, accounting for 15.9% of total imports, while imports from Germany totaled €43.1 billion, representing 18.6%. The automotive industry in China is expanding rapidly, increasing competition for established manufacturers like Toyota and Volkswagen.
