Germania a aprobat un proiect controversat, prin care Rusia va produce combustibil nuclear pe teritoriul țării

The Ministry of Environment in Lower Saxony has authorized Framatome's subsidiary to produce nuclear fuel in collaboration with Rosatom, despite concerns over Russia's involvement. The project will take place in Lingen, near the Dutch border, and has raised national security fears due to Russian experts' participation and equipment deliveries. The federal ministry stated that authorization can be reexamined if new risks are identified, particularly regarding national security. Legal obstacles to blocking the project exist only if EU sanctions target the Russian nuclear sector. Framatome applied for the license shortly after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as many Eastern European countries still rely on Russian-compatible nuclear fuel.
