The Bucharest-Progresul station has been completely demolished to make way for a modern transport hub. This new intermodal node will feature a contemporary train station and the terminus for the extended Metro Line 4. Additionally, a Park & Ride facility will be included, along with a connection to the upgraded railway line to Giurgiu. Demolition work has begun, with completion expected in two years, barring delays. The project aims to enhance direct and rapid rail connections between Giurgiu and Ruse, Bulgaria, while also linking major airports to the capital's main train stations.
