Sorin Grindeanu announced that the Romanian Parliament secured funding for Ana Maria Bărbosu's legal representation in her Olympic medal dispute. The amendment allows the Romanian Olympic Committee to cover legal costs, as Bărbosu's bronze medal from the Paris 2024 Olympics is contested. The case involves a challenge from the U.S. team, which was dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport due to a late appeal. Bărbosu is currently facing a two-year suspension for missed doping tests, but this decision is not final. The legal defense could cost around 100,000 euros, and the new amendment removes previous funding restrictions.
