The Danube River is at a critical low level, severely impacting navigation. Barges are stuck at Calafat, passenger ships cannot pass Drobeta-Turnu Severin, and the Bechet ferry has been out of service for four months. The river's flow is nearly three times below the September average, currently at 1,500 cubic meters per second, dropping to 1,350 by the weekend. Local residents report that they haven't seen the river this low in 50 years.
