Archaeologists in Pompeii have unveiled a partially reconstructed vaulted ceiling from a banquet hall, adorned with Greek mythology frescoes. This innovative restoration was showcased at an international workshop focused on new discoveries in the archaeological site. The ceiling, believed to be from a second-floor dining area next to a bakery, features a curved support structure for the original shape. The main theme of the artwork depicts the union of Dionysus and Ariadne, a well-known myth from ancient Greece. As new fresco fragments are uncovered, they will be integrated into the restoration.
