The find includes 934 coins weighing over 3 kilograms, buried during Emperor Hadrian's reign. The oldest coin is from the Roman Republic, while others date back to the Flavian dynasty. The coins were found near Wesseling, and after initial discovery, authorities excavated more. The reasons for the original burial remain unclear, but it is speculated that the owner may have died before retrieving them. The region was under Roman control for centuries, serving as a military outpost.
