Gabriela Popescu, CEO of Microsoft Romania, highlighted that decision-making speed is crucial for competitiveness. The adoption rate of generative AI in Romania is 18%, significantly lower than in neighboring countries like Poland and Hungary. While private companies are investing in technology due to competitive pressure, the public sector is progressing more slowly. Popescu emphasized the need for a coherent national strategy and institutional responsibility to accelerate digital transformation. She dismissed talent and funding shortages as reasons for the gap, pointing instead to execution issues in implementing digital projects.
