Fumătorii știu că țigările provoacă cancer. Riscul despre care mulți nu știu

A recent study reveals that many smokers are unaware of the heart disease risks associated with smoking, despite knowing about lung cancer. The research, involving over 240,000 smokers across 46 countries, indicates a lack of awareness regarding the harmful effects of tobacco on cardiovascular health. While over 90% recognized smoking as a cause of lung cancer, only about 80% acknowledged its link to heart disease, and even fewer were aware of the risks of stroke and secondhand smoke. This low awareness is concerning given that smoking contributes to over 2 million cardiovascular deaths annually worldwide. Efforts to combat smoking have seen mixed results in different countries, with some showing decreased awareness of smoking's dangers.
