Fructul românesc care a devenit o raritate în pieţe. Cele din import pornesc de la 25 de lei kilogramul

This autumn, the Romanian chestnut harvest is significantly lower due to drought, leading to a scarcity in markets. Imported chestnuts are available starting at 25 lei per kilogram. In Tismana, a key production area, local producer Vasile Guțilă reports a yield of only 2-3 tons from 300 trees, half of what is typical. Despite their smaller size, producers claim this year's chestnuts are sweeter. The drought has reduced production by up to 60% in some private plantations, and previous issues with chestnut blight have compounded the problem. Most chestnuts in markets are imported from Greece, and they can be enjoyed in various dishes, offering numerous health benefits.
