France's wine production is expected to be one of the lowest in 30 years due to severe drought and heat affecting vineyards. The Ministry of Agriculture forecasts a production of 33.9 million hectoliters, 6% lower than last year and 17% below the 2021-2025 average. The prolonged water deficit and heat waves have damaged young vines and reduced grape yields. This marks the third consecutive year of poor harvests. Champagne production is projected to halve by 2025, while Languedoc-Roussillon may see a 5% increase in yields. The French government has announced over one billion euros in aid for farmers affected by these conditions.
