France's economy is projected to grow less than expected, leading to a missed budget deficit target. Finance Minister Roland Lescure highlighted increased economic uncertainties and challenges in finalizing the 2027 budget amid a divided parliament. The growth forecast for 2026 has been downgraded to 0.5%, while the 2025 estimate remains at 1%. Lescure noted that various crises, including political uncertainties and rising energy prices, have impacted the economy. The government now faces difficulties in achieving a 5% deficit target due to slower growth and higher borrowing costs, with no new deficit target announced yet. France will spend 65 billion euros on debt this year, exceeding initial plans.
