France has taken action against online prediction platforms by blocking access to Polymarket, despite previous financial transaction bans. The National Gaming Authority (ANJ) ordered internet service providers to restrict access due to rising user numbers. Polymarket allows users to bet on future events, but its continued accessibility was seen as unauthorized advertising. The ANJ emphasized that promoting unauthorized gambling sites is illegal, with potential fines reaching €100,000. Despite transaction bans, interest in Polymarket remains high, with over 578,000 accesses from France in the last month. Other countries like Germany, Italy, and Spain have implemented similar restrictions.
