Franklin Templeton has withdrawn its candidacy for the role of administrator of the Fondul Proprietatea after identifying significant discrepancies in the evaluation process. The company requested clarifications from the Committee of Representatives but did not receive a response. Despite this withdrawal, Franklin Templeton will continue to manage the fund until the end of its current mandate in April 2027. Over 16 years, the fund has significantly contributed to corporate governance standards and minority shareholder rights in Romania, achieving a total return of 1,011% in dollars since its listing. The fund has also facilitated substantial foreign investments and distributed significant dividends to shareholders.
