Ukraine is adapting its air defense by combining Soviet systems with American RIM-7 missiles to counter faster Russian drones. The 156th Regiment has successfully destroyed around 20 targets using a hybrid Kub-Buk system, as Western missile supplies have significantly decreased. The new Russian Geran drones are harder to intercept, leading to increased damage estimates. The hybrid systems, nicknamed FrankenSAM, have proven effective, with some units achieving over 34 aerial targets downed. Ukraine is also developing a multi-layered defense strategy, aiming to produce up to 400 interceptor drones monthly to enhance its capabilities against these threats.
