Sălăjan is the last district in Bucharest named after a Stalinist general, Leontin Sălăjan. Once a noble area, it transformed into a sea of communist blocks, erasing much of its historical significance. The district retains its name despite post-communist changes, unlike others that reverted to traditional names. The former tavern, Valea Mieilor, now known as Valea Zmeilor, served as a local landmark, offering traditional Romanian dishes during its peak. Recent images show a stark contrast between the past's utilitarian architecture and today's familiar streets and shops.
