Romania has introduced the first five new RE-R PESA trains into circulation after a ten-month delay. These trains, part of a larger order of 62 units, were initially held due to maintenance contract obligations. The trains will operate on several routes, including Bucharest Nord to Brașov and Constanța. The project aims to enhance energy efficiency in rail transport and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The total investment for the project is approximately 2.78 billion lei, funded through the Modernization Fund and state budget. The new trains feature modern amenities and are expected to improve passenger experience significantly.
