A funeral chapel in Cluj-Napoca's Central Cemetery has won the Architecture MasterPrize 2026 in the 'Other Architecture' category. The design merges a historic 19th-century façade with a modern extension inspired by nearby funerary monuments. Located in the Lutheran section of the cemetery, it serves both funeral ceremonies and as a base for the Házsongárd Association, which preserves the cemetery's heritage. The project retained the classical façade while adapting the rest of the structure for new functions. Key features include a dark gray façade referencing nearby black marble gravestones, red matte brick walls, and strategic lighting that enhances the interior atmosphere during services.
