In the 1990s, the Trapezului sports complex in Bucharest hosted climbing competitions, becoming a key training site for enthusiasts. The RATB sports association's climbing section was a unique urban refuge focused on physical endurance and safety. The first artificial climbing competition in Romania took place in 1991, transitioning from natural rock events. Florin Stan played a crucial role in revitalizing the climbing section, leading to the construction of a large metal frame for climbing walls. Despite its initial success, the climbing section was eventually disbanded, marking the end of an era for urban climbing in Bucharest.
