The Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History recently highlighted the wart-biter, a European insect with historical medicinal beliefs. In the 18th century, it was thought that its bite could cure warts, leading to its name. Although it is one of the largest bush crickets in Europe, measuring 3 to 4 cm, its therapeutic claims are now considered a historical curiosity. Males produce sounds to attract females during mating, and the species is omnivorous, feeding on plants and smaller insects. However, it is sensitive to environmental changes, with significant population declines in some regions due to habitat loss.
