The Focșani – Brăila Expressway, a 4.3 billion lei project, will be Romania's first expressway with emergency lanes. The design phase is ongoing, incorporating new safety standards that include wider road platforms and dedicated emergency stopping areas. The project aims to enhance road safety and prevent issues seen on existing expressways. It will connect key routes and is part of the 2021-2030 Investment Plan. Expropriations for the project have begun, affecting over 3,200 properties. Construction is expected to start this year, with a contract duration of 42 months.
