The PMB announced that healthy trees along Lake Herăstrău will be preserved due to Mayor Ciprian Ciucu's intervention, which included altering the initial project that aimed to concrete the banks. This decision follows public outcry over plans to cut down over 100 trees for safety works. After reassessing the project, only 10 trees will be removed instead of 103. The revised plan reduces concrete areas and ensures that healthy trees will not be cut down. A total of 1,844 trees were evaluated, with many classified as low-risk. The inventory cost €90,000 and was funded by the Bucharest Community Foundation, which will propose a pilot project for park restoration by year-end.
