The Church of "Domnița Bălașa" is featured in an archival photograph published by Socec & Co., showcasing its original structure shortly after its construction from 1881 to 1885. The church, linked to the old Prund neighborhood, was initially built by Domnița Bălașa, daughter of Voivode Constantin Brâncoveanu, between 1743 and 1744. This first church led to the establishment of a school, creating a cultural center in Bucharest. The current structure, the fourth architectural version, was built during King Carol I's reign in a neo-Byzantine style with neo-Romanesque elements. The late 19th-century photograph captures a tranquil scene, contrasting with today's bustling city, highlighting the church's distinctive façade and verticality.
