A recently uncovered chapel in Bellu Cemetery honors Ioan Procopie Dumitrescu, a significant Romanian journalist and politician. Born in 1845, he studied law in Paris before returning to Romania to impact its modernization. Dumitrescu served as prefect of Bucharest and later as mayor during the War of Independence, welcoming the Romanian Army's return in 1878. His legacy includes a connection to Romania's artistic elite through his granddaughter, a talented ballerina and muse to composer Sergiu Celibidache.
