The Micu Grafunkel building, located on Intrarea Vasile Păun, is a significant example of interwar modernism in Bucharest. Designed by I. Rosenthal in 1933, it combines modernist elegance with Art Deco elements. The site reflects urban modernization efforts from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its inauguration in 1935 as a pocket neighborhood. The parceling plan created by architects Ciogolea and Săpunaru divided the area into ten lots, with the second lot designated for a multi-story building. The construction faced challenges regarding its design, but ultimately received approval. Functionally, it features commercial spaces on the ground floor and luxury apartments above, catering to the elite of the time. The building's aesthetic is characterized by subtle volume play and durable materials, making it a notable urban development in Bucharest.
