The inaugural electric tram line, number 14, connected Cotroceni to Obor, featuring green Thomson-Houston cars that were initially met with skepticism due to their noise and speed. These rudimentary trams had open platforms and lacked a driver's cabin, exposing the operator to the elements. The trams were powered by a continuous current from an overhead network, and their design included a protective grille to safeguard pedestrians. Over the decades, Bucharest's electric transport network expanded significantly, leading to the development of modern trams. Today, electric transport remains a vital part of the city's infrastructure, with a historical exhibition available for those interested in public transport history.
