Calea Victoriei, a vital artery of interwar Bucharest, was described by Mircea Damian in 1935 as the "navel of Romania." This vibrant promenade was a hub of social life despite economic crises. The most animated section stretched from Bulevardul Elisabeta to the National Theatre, where daily walks became a social theater. The presence of elegantly dressed women and men engaged in courtship transformed the sidewalks into an open-air ballroom. Despite the economic struggles of the time, the boulevard maintained a lively and optimistic atmosphere. The relationship between the monarchy and the public was warm, with citizens enthusiastically greeting military parades and the royal family, showcasing a strong community solidarity.
